Life Insurance Cover
Life cover will pay a lump sum on your death to your chosen beneficiary and Life Insurance cover gives you and your family one less thing to worry about should you have a serious illness.
Life Insurance cover is a long-term insurance policy designed to pay a lump sum on the diagnosis of certain life-threatening or debilitating (but not necessarily fatal) conditions such as a heart attack, stroke, certain types/stages of cancer, multiple sclerosis and loss of limbs.
Critical Illness protection policies vary but nearly always include the following illnesses; heart attack, cancer, strokes, kidney failure, coronary bypass or transplant. The illnesses covered will be specified in the policy along with any exclusions and limitations – these differ between insurers.
Life Insurance cover policies usually only pay out once, so are not a replacement for income. Critical illness protection pays a lump sum on initial diagnosis of a qualifying critical illness.
You are permitted to keep the money even if you make a full recovery. Once you have made a critical illness claim it is normal that your policy will cease.
Income protection insurance is designed to help protect you and your family should you be unable to work and therefore lose the source of your income. Have you ever thought how you would cope financially should you be unable to work due to illness or accidental injury? How would you pay the mortgage and other household bills? An income protection policy will usually pay a monthly tax-free sum to the insured.
