Investment bonds
Investment bonds are sold by life insurance companies and allow you to invest in a variety of funds managed by professional investment managers. They are normally designed to produce long term capital growth, but can also be used to generate an income.
When you buy an investment bond you will be allocated a certain number of units in the funds of your choice. Each fund will hold a portfolio of investments, such as shares or bonds, and the value of your capital – the price of your units – will normally rise and fall in line with the value of these investments.
Along with a wide range of managed funds from St. James’s Place, for those with a more focused investment objective we also offer specialist funds.
For example, funds that may invest in a particular geographical area such as the Far East or North America, or alternatively, in a particular type of investment such as gilts, property or cash.
Please contact us for advice on this complex area of financial planning as the value of any investment may fall as well as rise and you may not get back your original investment. By taking professional advice you minimise your exposure.
